Scott G Nelson

Scott G. Nelson, age 58, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born on December 8, 1966, in Moorhead, Minnesota, as one of three sons to Neal and Darlene Nelson.

Scott grew up and attended school in East Grand Forks, where he graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School with the class of 1985. Throughout his life, he made many meaningful connections with people in his community. He worked at the Riverbend Supper Club, where he made many good friends, and later spent several years with Ecolab Pest Elimination in Los Angeles, California, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He also spent time as a bus driver for East Grand Forks Public Schools, greatly enjoying driving the bus to hockey tournaments. He also worked as a corrections officer at the Northwest Regional Correction Center in Crookston, Minnesota. He was well-known for his kind and approachable demeanor, rumors spread that he was even well liked by the inmates. His career then led him to Aluma, where he worked on the support and crisis helpline. Scott’s caring nature and sense of humor made him a trusted figure for many, as he often received repeat calls from the same individuals who found comfort and laughter in his words.

Scott is lovingly survived by his brother, Mark Nelson of Sun City Center, Florida; nieces, Lindsey (Eric) Beare of Tampa Bay, Florida, Megan Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona; great-nephew, Zander Beare of Tampa Bay, Florida; great-niece, Mackenzie Beare of Tampa Bay, Florida; aunts, Lois Thompson of Boise, Idaho, Mary (Rich) Curtis of Fargo, North Dakota, Mary Birk of Centennial, Colorado; and uncle, Bob Johnson of West Fargo, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Darlene Nelson, and his brother, Steven Nelson.

Scott brought love and joy to many people. His final message was, “Rock on, have a good party, and happy tears. See you upstairs.”
