Cordelia "Corry" Jean Frentz, age 68, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026. She was born February 24, 1958, in Cook, Minnesota to loving parents Edward and Carol (Sokoloski) Fernlund.
When Corry was young her family moved from Cook to Aurora, MN. Later, when she was starting junior high, they moved to Ely, where she graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1976.
Corry had an adventurous spirit. She loved to travel and took a hitch-hiking trip across the country. Starting in the South, across to California and then back to the North. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, baking, cooking, and crafting. Her lemon cookies were famous among those who had the pleasure of tasting them. Corry also loved music, and had a saying, “music is soothing to the soul”, with country music having a special place in her heart.
Always one to see the bright side of things, she could make any situation light-hearted with a joke. Corry will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Corry is survived by her daughter, Lisa Frentz (Jason Walker); brothers, Tom (Veronica) Fernlund, Ed (Robin Amolins) Fernlund; and other beloved family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Carol Fernlund; and daughter, Jackie Frentz.
A memorial service celebrating Corry's life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, MN. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, at 12:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed, a link to which will be available on www.stenshoelhouske.com/obituaries/cordelia-frentz. Interment will immediately follow the service, at Oakdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Corry requested that donations be made to the Crookston Parks and Recreation Department to support the care of the flower beds in town for all to enjoy.
