THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ROBERT DELANEY HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2013, AT 2:00 PM, WITH VISITATION FOR ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. Robert "Bob" Delaney, age 83, of Crookston, MN, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Bob was born on February 20, 1930 in Devils Lake, ND, son of Frank and Julia (Parkos) Delaney. The family moved to Bemidji, when Bob was fourteen and he attended school there, graduating from Bemidji High School in 1947. He then served four years in the US Air Force stationed in Anchorage, Alaska in the Supply Depot. He returned to Bemidji where he worked at the hardware store sharpening chainsaws and then at the boating center working as a salesman and doing small engine repair. He was united in marriage with Gladys Johnson on September 9, 1955 in Bemidji. In 1967, the family moved to Crookston, where Bob worked with Don Peterson at Crookston Marine in sales. He was united in marriage with Rita Klasen on July 1, 1972 in Crookston. He later worked at Westgate Marine from 1982 until retiring in 1995 from marine sales. He worked for a few years at the Cenex Station following retirement and then did odd jobs repairing boats out of his garage to keep busy.

Bob enjoyed tinkering, making windmills out of old parts, splitting wood, snowmobiling and his 1983 Honda Goldwing motorcycle. As a young man, he enjoyed waterskiing and played violin in a band with his brothers. He fixed up a 1947 Dodge grain truck and drove a 1985 Dodge Horizon. He also enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk, Dolly Parton and the Hee Haw Show. Bob is survived by his wife: Rita of Crookston; six children: Linda (Jerel) Lindgren of Park River, Alan (Karen) Delaney of Bremerton, WA, Steve Delaney of Crookston, Christine (Blayne) Twamley of Drayton, Ken (Kellie) Delaney of Park Rapids, and Bobbi (Jason) Klinnert of Crookston; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters: Lyle (Christine) Delaney of Blackduck, Duane (Shirley) Delaney of Nebish, Lloyd Delaney of Bemidji, Bonnie Bundy of Bemidji, Donna Hegland of Bemidji, and Judy (Jim) Frost of Fort Mohave, AZ. Bob was preceded in death by his father: Frank; his mother: Julia; step-dad: Manford Wilbur and his first wife: Gladys. The memorial service for Bob Delaney will be held at 2 PM, Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, in Crookston, on Sunday from 5-7 PM, with a 7 pm prayer service, and also at the church for one hour prior to the service.
