Wayne Radi

March 1, 1933 — May 18, 2013

Wayne A. Radi, age 80, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully early Saturday morning, May 18, 2013, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, with family at his side. Wayne was born in rural Crookston on March 1, 1933, and was the son of Arnold and Dora (Reitmeier) Radi. He attended Crookston schools and graduated from Central High School in 1952. Soon after, he moved to Saginaw, MI, and was employed at a General Motors assembly plant. Wayne was united in marriage to Joan C. Wigand on November 19, 1953 in Crookston. Together they raised six children: Wanette, Glen, Clairene, Anita, Curtis, and Bruce. Wayne and Joan first lived in Saginaw where Wayne continued to work for GM. They moved back to Crookston in 1955, where Wayne was employed by the Otter Tail Power Company for 40 years. During those years he was also a 25-year member of the Crookston Volunteer Fire Department. In retirement Wayne and Joan traveled to Arizona and Texas, where they spent many winters enjoying the "snow bird life." He was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crookston for many years. Wayne was a very kind and humble man. He loved Joan and their family dearly and he enjoyed many wonderful friendships throughout his life. His love, sense of humor, and companionship will be remembered forever. Left to cherish Wayne's memory is his beloved wife of 59 years, Joan; their 6 children: Wanette (Fred) Oxley of Weldon Spring, MO, Glen Radi of Aurora, CO, Clairene (Barney) Irwin of Duluth, MN, Anita (Allen) Brekken of Crookston, MN, Curtis (Karen) Radi of Huntington Beach, CA, and Bruce Radi of Los Angeles, CA; 9 grandchildren: Ben (Kristy) Oxley, Brandon Milburn, Jeff (Angie) Brekken, Tyler, Cody, and Jordan Brekken, Chase and Caroline Radi, and Wyatt Irwin; and 4 great grandchildren: Carter Oxley, Deaglan Milburn, and Layne and Levi Brekken. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Marlyne (Howard) Dalzell of Albertville, MN and Sherry (Ken) Coauette of East Grand Forks, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Dora; and grandparents, William and Anna (Wentzel) Reitmeier, and Charles and Minnie (Waterstrat) Radi. May God richly bless Wayne's memory.
