Wayne Robert Fuglseth, 73, of Crookston, MN, passed away early Saturday morning, December 16, 2023, in Benedictine Living Community Crookston where he had been a resident for the past month.

Wayne was born in Crookston on April 3, 1950, the son of Chancy and Dorothy (Scott) Fuglseth. While growing up in Fertile, MN he first attended Elementary School, ultimately graduating from Fertile High School with the Class of 1968. A few weeks after graduation Wayne enlisted in the US Marine Corps on July 16th and was off to Marine Barracks, San Diego, CA for his basic training. He then went to Viet Nam as a combat infantryman. Four years later he received his honorable discharge on August 3, 1972 and was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve. For his service to his country Wayne was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, RVN Service Medal with 2 Stars, RVN Campaign Medal, and the RVN Civil Action Colors First Class Ribbon.

Upon his return to home Wayne was self-employed for many years, together with his brother, Randy, doing roofing, painting, and carpentry. Their work around the greater Crookston area and beyond earned them a stellar reputation for jobs always well-done. Wayne later drove a taxi in Crookston for a few years and then worked as a machinist until his retirement. In recent years Wayne had been struggling with health issues that were directly related to the time he spent in the jungles of Viet Nam.
