Obituary

Vivian Joan (Field) Erickson, 93, of Fisher, MN, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Good Samaritan Heritage Grove Senior Living Community in East Grand Forks, MN.

Vivian was born on October 27, 1932, in Litchfield, MN to Carl Field and Etta (Folkestad) Field. She attended Fisher High School where she graduated with the class of 1950. After graduation, she attended Concordia College before transferring to Fairview Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1954. After receiving her nursing degree, Vivian worked at Litchfield Hospital and Fairview Hospital.

She married Earl Delyle Erickson at Fisher Lutheran Church on June 29, 1957.  They settled in Roome Township, near Fisher, MN on the Erickson family farm where they raised their 5 children in a loving Christian home. In 2004, they retired from the family farm and built a home in Fisher. After Earl's passing in 2011, she continued to live in her Fisher home until December 2025, when she moved to Good Samaritan Heritage Grove Senior Living Community.

Vivian was a devoted woman of faith. She and Earl were faithful members of Fisher Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a WELCA member, serving in many leadership roles. She was an active member of the Fisher Lutheran Church quilters and WELCA bible study. She was very involved in the musical ministry of the church; playing piano, singing in the choir and serving as the church organist for more than 50 years.

When she was not serving her church or spending time with her family, she found time to pursue other passions. Quilting, sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidery, bowling, baking and canning were some of her favorite pastimes. She also loved attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. Vivian loved mowing the lawn so that the yard always looked nice.  She was a member of the Homemaker's Club, Birthday Club, bowling league and other groups and organizations. Vivian and Earl were honored as West Polk County Valley Farmer and Homemaker in 2004.

Vivian is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeff) Torgerson of Menahga, MN, Dale (Kristyn) Erickson of Cleveland, OH, JoAnn (Phil) Baird of Fisher, MN, John (Gail) Erickson of Duluth, MN, Sandra (Mark) Cooper of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Megan Elliott, Dane (Jade) Torgerson, Katie (Alex) Engel, Ivy Baird, Ian Erickson, Aidan Erickson, Samuel Cooper, Seth Cooper, Sophie Cooper; great-grandchildren, Taggart Torgerson, Emry Torgerson, James Elliott, Annie Elliott, Elliott Engel, Walter Engel; sister, Mary Anderson; sister-in-law, Holly Field; and brother-in-law, Don Eklund; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Erickson; parents, Carl and Etta Field; brother, Carl Field; sisters, Norma Lysne Eklund and Carolyn Ponting; brothers-in-law, Richard Lysne, Earl Ponting and Gary Anderson; and granddaughter, Sarah Cooper.
