Russell "Mooch" Peck, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away on August 10, 2026, at the age of 67, with his brother Rick by his side.

Russell was born on August 23, 1958, in Crookston, Minnesota, to John and Dolly Peck. Throughout his life, he wore many hats. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and later worked for Dee Inc. and Dahlgren & Co. Inc. His last place of work was Crystal sugar.

Those who knew Russell knew that Sundays during football season belonged to the Minnesota Vikings. He was a dedicated Vikings fan through the wins, the losses, and all the years of saying, "maybe this is the year."

Music was also an important part of Russell's life. He enjoyed playing the mandolin and ukulele, bringing a little music with him wherever life took him.

Russell leaves behind his daughters, Amanda Moreno, and her four children, and Alyssa Valdez-Peck, who is currently traveling and experiencing the world.

He is also survived by his siblings, Rhonda and Gary Paulson of East Bethel, Minnesota; Kim Moberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Richard "Rick" Peck of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Theresa and Tom Johnson of Faribault, Minnesota; Thomas and Vicky Peck of Crookston, Minnesota; and Jean Peck and Dale Disrud of Fosston, Minnesota.

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and others whose lives crossed paths with his.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen (Dolly) Peck; his brother, Doug Peck; and his nephew, Garret Halland.

Russell's story was uniquely his own. It was filled with family, service, work, music, football, and all the complicated and meaningful moments that make up a human life. Those who loved him will carry their own pieces of that story forward.

May the sound of a mandolin, a Vikings game on a Sunday afternoon, or an old memory that unexpectedly brings a smile serve as a reminder of Russell "Mooch" Peck and the life he lived.
