Russell Daniel Brown, 70, of Crookston, MN, passed away on April 18, 2026 from health complications at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Russell was born on March 3, 1956 to Clarence and Blanche (Hanson) Brown in Crookston, MN. He attended school in Crookston where he met the love of his life. Although Russ did not graduate from Crookston, he was proud of the fact that, after 40 years, he returned to complete his GED. Russell worked various jobs until the fall of 1975 when he began working at American Crystal Sugar. He would continue working there for 43 years until his retirement.

On July 16, 1977, he married Linda Devos at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Russ and Linda made their home in Crookston and welcomed 3 children; April, Matthew, and Stacey Brown. Sadly, the couple suffered a miscarriage of their first child.

Russ is survived by his wife, Linda; 2 daughters, April Brown and Stacey Brown, both of Crookston; grandson, Desmoind Brown; 3 granddaughters, Sheyenne Brown, Mercedez Brown, Ryleee Anderson all of Crookston; 4 brothers, Roger, Bob, Stan, and Doug Brown; several nieces and nephews along with other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche Brown; son, Matthew; son-in-law, David Vogt; sisters-in-law, Sherry Brown, Irene Mutcher, Teresa Mutcher; brothers-in-law, Ronald Mutscher, John Mutcher, Tom Murphy, Francis Devos, Jr., Chuck Devos, Bob Mutcher; parents-in-law, Francis Sr and Marian Devos.

Russell's family will celebrate his life with a funeral service on Saturday May 2, 2026 at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home beginning at 1:00pm with interment following the service in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday May 1, 2026 at Stenshoel-Houske from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
