Patricia Eggebraaten

May 30, 1938 — July 11, 2016

Patricia Jean Eggebraaten, 78, of Fisher, MN, died peacefully Monday, July 11, 2016, in her home with her beloved husband, Kenny, and their loving family at her side. Pat was born in Crookston, MN on May 30, 1938, the daughter of Louis and Jean (Mercy) Halos. She was baptized and confirmed at the Wesley United Methodist Church, and was active in numerous school activities until her graduation from Central High School in 1956. She was employed at the Crookston National Bank until her marriage to Kenneth G. Eggebraaten at the Methodist Church on March 12, 1960. Pat and Kenny made their home in Fisher all their married life and together raised four children: Wendy, Kristen, Stacey, and Tim. In the mid-1970's she began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk at the Fisher Post Office, and was soon appointed Postmaster. After a long and successful career, much of it spent helping others in any way she could, Pat retired in 2001. Faith and family meant everything to her. Throughout her life Pat was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher, and served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed the fellowship of her wonderful friends, and many years ago they all banded together to form the "Trial and Error Homemakers Club". Pat was a former Bluebirds and Campfire Girls leader, a Salvation Army bell ringer at Christmas, a volunteer at the Fisher Elementary School where she would read with students, and also provided a "storm home" for the kids if needed. She played the clarinet in the local Second Wind Band. She was optimistic, bubbly, never knew a stranger because they all became friends, and had a special sense for when others were in need and doing what she could for them. She will be forever missed by her family and many friends. Pat leaves her beloved husband of 56 years, Kenny; their 4 children: Wendy (Steve) Swenson of Grand Forks, ND, Kristen (Jeff) Wilde of Thompson, ND, Stacey (Kent) Ellingson of Crookston, MN, and Tim (Denise) Eggebraaten of Detroit Lakes, MN; 11 grandchildren: Dustin (Lara) Hogenson, Heidi Hogenson, Hailey Clay, Cody (Alison) Wilde, Nolan Ellingson, Tanner (Kati) Wilde, Josh and Lucas Eggebraaten, Stacia and Max Swenson, and Isaac Eggebraaten; 5 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Beckett, Ruth, Izzy, and Magnus; her brother: Dale Halos of Crookston; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Jean Halos, and a sister-in-law, Alva Halos. May God bless Pat's memory. The funeral service for Patricia Jean Eggebraaten will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher, MN with The Rev. Craig Fenske, officiating. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston on Friday from 5-7:00pm, with a 7:00pm prayer service and time of sharing; and visitation also at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.
