Oliver Magne Clemenson, age 97 of Crookston, MN, died July 31, 2026, with his family by his side.

Oliver Clemenson was born on February 7, 1929, in Horace, ND to Oscar and Mary (nee Anderson) Clemenson. He attended school in Horace. Oliver met his wife Lorna Rusert in Fargo, ND and they were married November 11, 1949, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN and were blessed with 6 children. Oliver was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on August 7, 1955.

 Oliver worked on the family farm and farms around the Horace and Mapleton, ND area. He worked for American Crystal Sugar Co. for 39 years. He started working in 1948 at American Crystal in Moorhead, MN and transferred to Crookston, MN in 1954 when the new American Crystal Factory was established. Oliver is the last surviving member of the original team that helped start-up the operations in Crookston. Oliver was known as a coach and mentor during his career, he retired in 1987. He managed the Crookston Eagles softball team for several years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church in Crookston since 1955.

Oliver enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at their lake home near Ottertail, MN. They rarely missed any family events. He enjoyed traveling the United States, music, theater, playing cards, games, puzzles, auction sales and was proud to be a United States citizen. After both Lorna and Oliver retired, they wintered in Texas for several years. Oliver's request to his family was "tell his story and give God all the Glory and to thank God for all the good things he has done."

Oliver is survived by his wife of 76 years, Lorna (nee Rusert) Clemenson, Crookston, MN; children, Juliane (Gregory) Smith, St. Louis Park, MN, Carol Wernicki, Erie, PA, Lonnie (Eileen) Clemenson, Renville, MN, Donna Enghauser (Tom Heinecke), Minnetonka, MN and Lola Radermacher, Alexandria, MN. Daughter-in-Law, Cindy Clemenson, Crookston, MN., Sisters Emily Olson, West Fargo, ND. and Betty Lien, Fargo, ND. 

Grandchildren Thomas (Bobbi) Wernicki, Ravenna, OH, Meilan Smith, New York, NY, Chad (Stacey) Wernicki, Girard, PA, April Goodman, St. Louis Park, MN, Amber (Keith) Reilly, Anoka, MN, Nicholas (Joleen) Radermacher, Port Charlotte, FL., Shawn (AnnMarie) Clemenson, Mankato, MN Eryn (Dave) Dahl, Garfield, MN, Chase (Mikaela) Radermacher, Fargo, ND, Chase (Kelly) Enghauser, Annandale, MN, Brent (Hilary) Clemenson, Montevideo, MN, Brett (Ashley) Enghauser, Nelson, MN, Scott (Ashley) Clemenson & Megan (Joshua) Groen Renville, MN. Nathan Jones & Christopher Jones Crookston, MN, Nestor Sai, Burnsville, MN and 37 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert, son-in-law Thomas Wernicki, and granddaughter Melissa (Jones) Hartsock, brothers: Edwin, Herman, Allen, Andvick, Wilfred, Willis, and Vernon.

Oliver's family will celebrate his life with a funeral service on Friday August 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Crookston. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 13, 2026, at Steshoel-Houske Funeral Home beginning at 3:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:30.
