Mary Eleanor Kujawa, 88, of Crookston, MN passed away peacefully at the Benedictine Living Community in Crookston Thursday morning, November 9, 2023, from Cancer, with some of her family members at her side.

Mary was born in Perham, MN on July 29, 1935, one of three children of the union of John and Ramona Glieden, the family included Brother Jack and a sister Kay. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

On June 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Kujawa at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. The marriage lasted 62 years until Jim’s death in 2017. The couple lived in St Cloud for a year before coming to Crookston to make their home. Their marriage was blessed by the births of 9 children who they raised in a very loving home. Mary was a home maker caring for her children and had her seasonal job managing the kitchen during the Crookston Winter Shows every spring. She later started and operated her own drapery and decorating business, “Mary K Drapes”. Mary and Jim retired in 1996.

Mary absolutely loved the game of bridge and enjoyed playing the game with her tight group of Bridge playing friends. She enjoyed drinking wine with family and friends, she also was tireless when it came to shopping. She would always help with the finishing work on wood projects when her and Jim made items for family and friends. Mary had a passion for decorating and remodeling and was very good at it and she loved her church and cherished her faith.

Mary will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children and their spouses: Laura Kujawa (Beau) of Park Rapids, MN; Mike and Bonnie Kujawa of East Grand Forks, MN; Mona and Tim Korsmoe of Grand Forks, ND; Jaci and Glen Wilder of Crookston, MN; Paul and Sarah Kujawa of Detroit Lakes, MN; Tim and Kara Kujawa of East Grand Forks, MN; Julie Bigger and Jeff Bigger of Alexandria, MN; Lee “Harv” Kujawa of Crookston, MN; Michelle Kujawa and Shane Johnson of Alexandria, MN; 31 Grandchildren: 24 Great-Grandchildren; sister-in-law Marian Glieden Sakry and her husband Jack of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law Dorothy Kujawa of Eugene, OR; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
