1949 Lyle 2024

Lyle Andrew Lubinski

Fisher

Lyle Andrew Lubinski, 74, of Fisher, MN, and a Euclid, MN native, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 2024, in his Fisher Cottage.

Lyle was born in Crookston, MN on December 6, 1949, the 3rd of 4 children of the union of Alfred and Catherine (Weiland) Lubinski. He grew up on the family farm in Euclid Township with siblings: Irene, Donald, and Martha; was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; and attended Elementary School in Euclid. Lyle’s high school years were spent in Crookston at the Northwest School of Agriculture, which today is the site of the University of Minnesota-Crookston. After his graduation with the Class of 1967 Lyle began farming together with his father and brother, Don. In 1973 he was united in marriage to Constance “Connie” Garry, also of Euclid. The ensuing years would proudly bless them with the births of 3 children: Chad, Marc, and Carrie. Lyle loved working and kept busy during the winter months delivering fuel oil for L & L Oil Company and plowing snow for the Polk County Highway Department. For several years he was employed by Wavra Brothers Farms helping with the fall sugar beet harvest.

After retiring from farming Lyle found more time for fishing, whether it be summers from the boat or winters on the ice in his fish house. His favorite memories were of times spent from his boyhood in 1958 to the present day at the family’s Long Point cabin on Lake of the Woods. With great pride Lyle loved watching his grandkids play hockey, football, and wrestle, along with going to volleyball and basketball games, figure skating competitions and shows, concerts, and other special activities. There was always something going on and nothing pleased him more than looking at the calendar of upcoming events and planning his schedule weeks in advance. Despite being retired from farming Lyle greatly enjoyed getting on his UTV or jumping in the pickup and heading out to check on the area crops.

Lyle always involved his children in outdoor activies such as farmwork, gopher trapping, gardening, snowmobiling, deer hunting, fishing, and three wheeling on the Big Red including going “Ulabalking” (wheeling from house to house).  One favorite past time the kids recall is dad pulling them in the snow filled ditches using the hood of a truck for a sled; and by golly, they lived to talk about it.

Lyle will be deeply missed by Connie, the love of his life; their 3 children: Chad and Brita Lubinski of East Grand Forks, MN, Marc Lubinski and Ryan Poe of Grapevine, TX, and Carrie Bergquist (Donavon Haaland) of Crookston; his 5 wonderful grandchildren: Maddie and Tanner Lubinski of East Grand Forks, and Kaylee and Kendall Bergquist, and Jackson Haaland, all of Crookston. He also leaves his sister, Martha “Marty” Robertson of Breckenridge, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Patty Lubinski of Crookston; brother-in-law, Bobby D. Raaen of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Chris Garry and Patty Belgarde of Euclid; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Catherine Lubinski; sister, Irene Raaen; brother-in-law, Keith Robertson; 2 nephews, Christopher Lubinski and Godson, Scott Robertson; and from Connie’s family: parents-in-law, Terry and Dorothy Garry; sister-in-law, Terryl Garry; and 3 brothers-in-law: Jeff, Douglas, and Mark Garry.

Blessed be the memory of Lyle Andrew Lubinski.
