Loren Stanley Karboviak, 71, of Crookston, Minnesota passed away at the Benedictine Living Center in Crookston on October 16, 2025.
Loren was born on August 3, 1954 in Altona, Manitoba, Canada to Edmund Karboviak and Lillian Miksato. Loren grew up on a farm which bordered Canada in Rural Orleans, Minnesota and graduated from Lancaster High School in the class of 1972. After high school, Loren attended Moorhead Vocational School. In 1974, Loren moved to Crookston where he began a 47-year career as an automotive mechanic with Brost Chevrolet. Loren was a devoted member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He served as an usher, sacrisant, assistant janitor at Cathedral as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Loren was a jack of all trades who used his various skills to serve God and his church community.
Loren loved taking a drive through nature and seeing all the natural beauty the countryside had to offer. Loren was very content being by himself, but when he was with family and friends he enjoyed playing cards and games. Loren was kind and generous to all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and a memorable laugh.
Loren is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Lillian Karboviak; sister, Lynette Karboviak; brother, Jerry Karboviak; brother-in-law, John Pietrusinski; nephew, Adam Altepeter.
Loren is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Bruce) Altepeter, Karen Pietrusinski, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Loren's family will celebrate his life with a memorial service on Thursday October 23 at 2:00 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. His family will receive friends on Wednesday October 22 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.
Loren's nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral School or the Red Lake Mission Pastoral Ministries.
