Lillian Karboviak

August 16, 1920 — January 23, 2017

Lillian Therese Karboviak, 96, of Crookston, MN, passed away peacefully at Villa St Vincent with her loving family at her side early Monday morning, January 23, 2017.

Lillian was born on August 16, 1920 at Greenbush, MN, the daughter of Edward and Louise Miksatko. She was raised on the family's farm, baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leo, near Greenbush, and attended a nearby country school. On November 3, 1945, Lillian was united in marriage to Edmund Karboviak at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Kroze near Lancaster, MN. Together they raised their family on a farm near Lancaster, moving to Crookston in 1974. Lillian was employed by Tri-Valley in Crookston for over 10 years. Sadly, Edmund passed away on July 23, 1992.

Lillian was a devoted member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, Funeral Guild, and the Holy Rosary Circle. She was a loving, beautiful mother whose profound faith was passed on to her four children. She and Edmund began the custom of daily rosaries prayed by all the family on a daily basis. All who knew Lillian will remember a kind and loving person.

Lillian will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her 4 children: Karen Pietrusinski of Chicago, IL, Cindy (Bruce) Altepeter and Loren Karboviak of Crookston, MN, and Lynette Karboviak of Moorhead, MN; 8 grandchildren: Michael Pietrusinski, Alexis (Tom) Mann, Brian Pietrusinski, Kristin Altepeter, Brad (Sarah) Altepeter, Barry (Margaret) Altepeter, Alan (Kayla) Altepeter, and Erika Altepeter, 8 great-grandchildren, Jenny (Bob) Manias, Andrew Nelson, Kaitlin, Jacob, Hailey, Aspen, and Aaron Altepeter, and Kryton Mesrour; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; parents, Edward and Louise Miksatko; first-born son, Jerry, who died at birth; beloved grandson, Adam Altepeter, who died on August 23, 2004; son-in-law, John Pietrusinski, who died on January 22, 2005; 2 sisters, Annie Miksatko and Mary Rauenbuehler; 2 brothers, Edward and Wentzel Miksatko; and a nephew, Louis Miksatko. May God richly bless Lillian's memory.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian T. Karboviak will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with The Very Rev. Vincent Miller, presiding. Visitation will be at the Cathedral on Friday from 5-7PM, with a 7PM prayer service officiated by The Rev. Augie Gothman.
