Keith Allen Blokzyl

Keith Allen Blokzyl, age 64, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away in his home, with his family by his side, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was born to loving parents Charles and Betty (Christianson) Blokzyl on June 29, 1960, in Crookston.

Keith was very caring and had a strong sense of responsibility from a young age, he started working at a local grocery store at age 14 to help support his family. His work ethic never faded; Keith worked many different jobs throughout his life. Working with local farmers, at American Crystal Sugar, in a soup factory, glass warehouse, at Phoenix Industries, and lastly at Riverview Health before his retirement.

He lived a life with adventure, living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Georgia before moving back to his hometown where he married the love of his life, Janet Prosje, on September 13, 2003, at First Christian Reformed Church in Crookston.

Keith was a simple man, enjoying fishing, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with those he loved. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting outside, enjoying nature around him with his beloved cat, Angel. He was also very involved in his church. He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Crookston, and was a deacon there for many years. His love for his family was second only to his love for the Lord.

Keith is survived by his wife, Janet Blokzyl, of Gentilly, MN; stepson Jeffrey Prosje, of Gentilly, MN; sister, Kim Blokzyl, of Fargo, ND; his cat, Angel, and many other beloved family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Blokzyl, and brothers, Mike Blokzyl and Vincent Blokzyl.

A funeral service to celebrate Keith's life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, Minnesota. Visitation will be one-hour prior, starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston, Minnesota.
