Katherine Jane LeBlanc, 36, of East Grand Forks, MN, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2012, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Katherine was born in Crookston, MN on February 25, 1976, the youngest of 9 children of the union of Gerald and Marilyn (Yon) LeBlanc. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, and at the age of two began living in a group home in Fergus Falls, MN. In 1989 Katherine moved to the REM Supported Living Service in East Grand Forks. In May of 1995 she graduated from the Central Middle School in East Grand Forks. After the flood of 1997 that took the REM home, Katherine became a resident of REM in Roseau, and participated in the Development Achievement Center (DAV) programs there. In 1999 she was able to return to East Grand Forks. Katherine enjoyed living at REM, and looked forward to her water and massage therapy sessions, and spending time at the DAC. She had great affection for the staff and her fellow residents, and Katherine's family members are very grateful for the wonderful care and kindness shown to her during the many years spent with them.
Katherine's family visited her REM home often and she was always part of their activities in Crookston. She will be very loving missed and forever remembered by her parents, Gerald and Marilyn LeBlanc of Crookston, MN; 5 brothers: Greg (Marlene) of Crookston, Dan of Tualatin , OR, Mike (special friend, Anmari Conkins) of Crookston, John of Grand Forks, ND, Duane (Teresa) of Charlotte, NC; 3 sisters, Suzanne (Jeff) Srnsky of Madison, WI, Janine (Jim) Dragna of Tampa, FL, and Lori (Kieth) Carlson of Denver, CO. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Delphis and Emma LeBlanc, and Harry and Anne Yon. May God bless Katherine's memory. The Mass of Christian Burial, in celebration of the life of Katherine Jane LeBlanc, will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN, with The Very Rev. Bob Schreiner, presiding. Visitation will be at the Church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
