Joyce Ruth Dillon Reitmeier was born Sept. 29, 1928 in Crookston, MN and passed away Sept. 8, 2026, at Fair Meadow Assisted Living, Fertile, MN. Joyce lived 97 joyful years. Her parents were Michael and Lena (Haugen) Dillon; she was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Crookston. Joyce attended Crookston Central High School and graduated in 1947. She worked as a checker at the Red Owl Store in Crookston 1948 to 1951, met everyone in the area and remembered them fondly all her life.

Joyce married Ernest O. Reitmeier Feb. 24, 1951 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Ernie and Joyce farmed sugar beets and grain northwest of Crookston until Ernie's retirement when they moved to Crookston and made new friends on Radisson Road. Ernie and Joyce were active in church, Farmers Union, and VFW. They enjoyed family gatherings, fishing at Lake of the Woods, bowling, playing cards and Army and class reunions. Joyce loved to dance and she delighted in her grandchildren! After Ernie's passing in 1999, Joyce lived in Crookston and enjoyed reading mysteries, watching the Minnesota Twins, bus trips, craft fairs, Red Hats, ceramics, and shopping with her friends, some winters in Arizona and summer travel with her daughters and sister Mickie. Joyce moved to Detroit Lakes in 2013 and to Fair Meadow Assisted Living, Fertile, in 2020.

Joyce's children are Cheryll Reitmeier, JoAnn and Don Andringa, Susie Reitmeier and Milo Braaten, and Paul and Leah Reitmeier. Her grandchildren are Chris and Mandy Cymbaluk, Jamie and Jeremy Yeager, Andrew Cymbaluk, Joel and Rachel Andringa, Dana Andringa and Alicia Hellickson, Holland John and Carlee Andringa, Trent and Kelsey Wagner and Halle Reitmeier. Her great-grandchildren are Elle Cymbaluk, Will Cymbaluk, Clara Cymbaluk, Axton Cymbaluk, and Mae, Stratton and Wes Wagner.

Surviving nieces and nephews include Julie Reitmeier, Leroy and Shirley Reitmeier, Janice Beil, Sue Reitmeier, LouAnne and Larry Olson, Jolene and Greg Bebo, Howard and Barb Reitmeier, Pat and John Schmidt, Bonnie Christians, Evertt and Joan Reitmeier, John Reitmeier, Jane Reitmeier, MariBeth Reitmeier and Mary Ann Hehr, Lori and Randy Wolff, Pat Carlson, Jim and Kallie Marsten, Ann and John Waterman, Linda and Jim Vassen, Janet and Dale Stromberg, Diane Berggren, Roger and Loraina Stout and Debbie Mack.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Ernie, sisters Mickie Stout and Lucille Stout and brother and sister-in-law Howard and Mary Marsten; brothers- and sisters-in-law Willard and Grace Reitmeier, Edward and Lucille Reitmeier, Marvin and Aldoris Reitmeier, Lloyd and Audrey Reitmeier, Mike and Barb Reitmeier, Mike and Meda Buness, Arnold Reitmeier and Millie and Rene Regiembal; nieces and nephews Pauline Reitmeier, Michael Reitmeier, Ron Reitmeier, Jerry Reitmeier, Jackie Stout and Shirley Wold.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Karen Ness and Tammy Franklin and the Fair Meadow Assisted Living staff and aides Patty Boreen, Julie Harstad, Sarah Benson, Vieng Abrahamson, Kiley Desrosier, Deb Nelson, Tammi Radamaker, Brittany Stuck, Julie Fenno, Laura Delage, Olivia Harstad and Cade Wang for their exceptional care and patience as well as HIA Hospice (Maia and Joanna) for their kindness and support through Joyce's last weeks.
