Josephine Vita Sheridan

June 20, 1953 — April 4, 2024

Crookston

Josephine “Josie” Sheridan changed addresses from Crookston, MN, to her eternal Heavenly home on April 4, 2024.  After a year-long struggle with cancer, she passed from this life with her loving husband, James “Jim” at her side.

Josie was born Josephine Vita Satariano on June 20, 1953, to first-generation Italian immigrants, Peter and Josephine (Spinella) Satariano, in Marshalltown, IA.  Her parents taught her the attributes that would be her hallmark for life:  Hard work, humility, generosity and devotion to her Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was a quiet woman who was always in the background, busily helping others.  She loved children, good jokes, sharing time with friends, Bible studies and helping her husband in his business.

Josie graduated from South Tama High School, Tama, IA, in 1971, at which time she entered Evangel University in Springfield, MO.  She graduated in 1975.  For several years, she served others in jobs that reflected her servant heart:  Teen Challenge; waitressing for more than 30 years (including positions at the Crookston Inn and Irishman’s Shanty); acting as a paraprofessional in the public school system, working in retail sales and assisting her husband in the operation of Jim’s Quality Floor Service for 29 years.  Josie felt one of her greatest accomplishments was teaching Bible study and teen ministry for over 25 years in Crookston and Iowa.

It was through a position in the former Pamida that Josie was transferred to Crookston, MN, and met her future husband, Jim.  They married on October 15, 1988, and have resided in Crookston, MN, ever since.   They are active members of Freedom Church, Crookston.

Josie leaves behind her devoted husband, James “Jim” Sheridan and mother-in-law, Carol Radi.   She also is survived by brothers: Tony (Elizabeth) Satariano of New Sharon, IA, Albert Satariano of Denver, CO, and John Satariano of Tama, IA; Niece, Allyson Satariano of Waterloo, IA; Nephew, Aaron Satariano of Carolville, IA; Brother-in-law, Tom Sheridan; Sister-in-law, Pamela Maygra, as well as many other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Her gentle smile will be greatly missed, but she would say, “Bye for now.”

There will be a visitation and a time for memory sharing on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston.  Sharing of memories will begin at 6:00 PM.  The Funeral Service celebrating Josie’s life will be on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Freedom Church, Crookston.  Visitation will be for one-hour prior to the service.   There will be a luncheon held after the service, followed by burial at St. Petri Cemetery in Nielsville, MN.   Please visit www.stenshoelhouske.com and follow the prompts to Josie’s obituary for more information and the link for livestreaming, which will be active five minutes before the service begins on both Thursday and Friday.
