John Shaver

John Richard Shaver, 69, of Crookston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the Benedictine Living Center, Crookston, (Villa St. Vincent.)

John was born on March 15, 1951 in Summit, South Carolina to parents of Richard Shaver and Irene (Ostgarden)Shaver. John was confirmed at Froen Lutheran Church.  John attended school in Fosston, graduating from Fosston High School, Class of 1969.

He was united in marriage to Joann (Drellack) Shaver and together they had two children Kari and Bryan.

John was employed by Homark Homes in Red Lake Falls.  In 1994 John moved to Crookston.  He was employed at New Flyer Bus Company and also seasonally at American Crystal Sugar. In 2010 John was employed at the Villa St. Vincent in the maintenance department and also at the Humane Society in Crookston.

John grew up on the farm north of Fosston with his brothers and sister. Many happy memories were made and will be forever cherished.

John’s favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting and watching football.  He also enjoyed old western movies and country music. His greatest joy was the love and pride that John carried in his heart for his daughter, Kari and her family, and his son, Bryan.

Survivors include two children, Kari Lomen and her husband, Jim, and their 3 children, Madison, Jacob, and Dylan of Fosston, MN; son, Bryan Shaver of Crookston, MN; 2 siblings, Pam (Steve) Johnson and Daniel  (Jane) Rud, all of Superior, WI; and 2 nephews, Mike (Kari) Johnson of Proctor, MN and Ryan (Bridgette) Johnson of Elk River, MN. John was preceded in death by his father Richard; mother Irene Rud; step-father, Philip Rud; brother, Lowell Shaver; and nephew, Philip Rud. He will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed by them and all who were touched by his life, including his ‘Villa family.’

A private family service will be held for John Richard Shaver next spring. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
