Glen Ordell Thompson, 92, of Crookston, MN passed away on January 29, 2026, at The Benedictine Living Center in Crookston.
Glen was born on June 17, 1933, in Caledonia, North Dakota to Engebret and Alma Overgsten Thompson. He attended the Caledonia Consolidated School where he graduated with the class of 1951. After graduating from school, Glen worked with his brother moving buildings. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army. He atteneded Army Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and later served a tour of duty in Korea. In 1956 he left the Army and returned to North Dakota where he would spend the next 15 years operating heavy machinery working on road construction. On May 2, 1959, Glen married Lois Helen Opdahl at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, and they lived in Caledonia until 1966. In 1966, they moved to Buxton, North Dakota where Glen spent 3 years driving school bus and doing maintenance for Buxton School. In 1969, Glen and Lois moved to Crookston, and he began a 27-year career at the University of Minnesota Crookston as an auto mechanic. Finally, in 1996, Glen was able to retire from the University and enjoy time with his family.
Glen is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Kimberly (Bryan) Seaton, Karen Langer, Kevin Thompson all of Crookston; grandchildren, Amy Johnsten, Ashley Langer; great-grandchildren, Colton Johnsten, Cayden Johnsten, Brooklyn Remmick and Beau Remmick; brother, Arvid Thompson; sister-in-law, Janice Thompson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Engebret and Alma Thompson; brothers, Orville, Duane, Wallace, Edwin, Elmer, Archie; sisters, Joyce, Muriel.
Glen's family will celebrate his life with a funeral service held on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home. Visitation will begin 1:00 pm.
