Earl Abrahamson

May 15, 1927 — December 1, 2021

Earl Milo Abrahamson, 94, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 1, 2021, in the Benedictine Living Community of Crookston with family at his side.

Earl was born on the rural Crookston farm of his parents, Bert and Edna (Hoiseth) Abrahamson on May 15, 1927. He grew up on the farm, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended a nearby country school. Earl worked on the farm of his uncle and aunt, Martin and Clara Larson, until 1949 when he began employment with Elk River Concrete in Crookston. Earl entered the US Army on December 4,1950, serving stateside with Company A 76th Tank Battalion at Fort Campbell, KY until his honorable discharge on December 3, 1952. Earl was united in marriage to Patricia Lou Crane in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church parsonage in Crookston on May 9, 1953. Earl and Patsy made their home in Crookston Township just outside of the City where together they raised their 5 children: Joyce, Dean, Nancy, Bruce, and Barbara in a very loving Christian home. Earl was once again working at Elk River Concrete, eventually becoming Lead Man. In January of 1972 he became the plant supervisor continuing in that role until retiring in 1988 after 37 years of loyal, dedicated service to the Company. To keep busy after retiring Earl would go out and collect scrap iron and take it to Thief River Falls for recycling. Sadly, Patsy passed away on September 9, 2018. While missing his partner and best friend of over 65 years, Earl continued to enjoy the love and visits of his family; always eager to hear what everyone had been doing and learning of his grandkids and great-grandkids latest accomplishments. Earl will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who were a part of his life.

Family members include 5 children: Joyce Beattie (Jeff Anderson) of Maple Grove, MN, Dean Abrahamson, Nancy and Mark Bruggeman, Bruce Abrahamson, and Barbara and Rick Holweger, all of Crookston, MN; son-in-law, Randy Beattie of Crookston; 9 grandchildren: Tricia (Scott) Sanders, Matthew Beattie, Brandi (Daniel) Halland, Sara Beattie, Aaron (Erin) Bruggeman, Dustin Bruggeman (special friend, Molly Mertes), Andrew Abrahamson, Christopher (Jessica) Abrahamson, and Elizabeth Abrahamson (fiancé, Clint Jensen); and 9 great-grandchildren: Samantha and Georgia Sanders, Haddie and Judson Halland, Arthur, Sylvie, and Hayes Bruggeman, and Gabe and Eli Abrahamson; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Dale Finkenbinder of Crookston; siblings  from Patsy’s family: Jane Bryan-Crane, Carol Erickson, Margaret (Donald) Gold, Linda (Gerald) Helgeson, and Dennis (Mary Jo) Crane; together with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Edna Abrahamson; brothers: Harold, Howard, and Roger; sisters: Delores, Dorothy, and Judy; granddaughter, Heather Bruggeman; and parents-in-law, Arthur and Olga Crane.  May Earl’s memory be forever treasured.
