Duane Allen Wimpfheimer, age 90, of Euclid, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at his home with loving family by his side.
Duane was born on January 30, 1931, in Crookston, MN, the son of the late William and Esther (Nyleen) Wimpfheimer. He was raised in Euclid and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and served honorably during the Korean Conflict until 1954. He was married to Joan Audrey McMahan in October of 1953, sadly, she passed away in July of 1977. Duane took up farming like his father and even lived in the same homestead until now. He was a lifelong farmer but in the off season he worked as a Sugar Boiler for American Crystal Sugar for 37 years. He retired in 1993. On September 28, 1996, he was married to Mildred M. Schulz. In their retirement they enjoyed travelling, especially to see their children and grandchildren. Mildred passed away in December of 2010. He was a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Euclid and now was a member of Harvest Evangelical Covenant Church in Crookston, MN. He was also a member of American Legion Post #539.
Duane is survived by his children, Vicky (Steve) Whorton of Minot, ND, Kathy Wimpfheimer of Grand Forks, ND, Sheila (Tom) Bonetti of Norway, MI, and Dean (Linda) Wimpfheimer of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Andrew David McWaters of Crookston, MN, Matt (Precious) McWaters of Crookston, MN, Breanna (Ryan Beede) Whorton of Dickenson, ND, Taylor (Hailey) Bonetti of Norway, MI, Garrett (Carley Hicks) Bonetti of Norway, MI, and Chole Wimpfheimer of Tampa, FL; and great-grandchild, Rowan McWaters; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Joan and Mildred; parents, William and Esther Wimpheimer; and sister, Clair Goodyke.
Funeral service celebrating Duane’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Harvest Evangelical Covenant Church in Crookston, MN, with a time for visitation one hour before. Pastor David Finsaas will officiate. Interment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Crookston Veterans Council and the Minnesota Army National Guard.
