David Egeland

November 13, 1975 — July 26, 2012

David Matthew Egeland, 36, of Fisher, MN, died late Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2012, in an automobile accident that took place near Fisher. David was born in Grand Forks, ND on November 13, 1975, one of four children of the union of Paul and Stephanie (Gunstinson) Egeland. He grew up on the family's farm in Bygland township, rural Fisher, and was baptized and confirmed at the Bygland Lutheran Church. David attended Fisher Public Schools and participated in football, basketball, track, and choir. He graduated from Fisher High School as a member of the Class of 1994. He then attended the East Grand Forks NW Technical College for a year, studying accounting. He worked on the farm all his life and was so happy and proud to be a part of the family farm, working with his grandpa, dad, brother and uncle all these years, including running his own farming operation from 2006-08. David worked for ND Grain Inspection Service before becoming a crop adjuster in 1999. He first started with American Ag, and at the present time had been working for NAU Country, traveling not only regionally but occasionally to other states as well. David also worked for H & R Block for several years. On August 25, 2001 David was united in marriage to longtime sweetheart, Jami June Bahls, at the Bygland Lutheran Church. The couple had been making their home near Fisher, and were the very proud parents of Aaron (8), Michael (6), and Ean (2). Jami will be giving birth to their fourth son on August 14th. David was a lifelong member of the Bygland Lutheran Church and an usher since he was in high school. For the past 8 years, and to the present time, he had been serving on the Fisher Township board. David was a 'people person' whom everyone loved to be around. He was an avid, but sometimes frustrated, Minnesota Vikings fan; enjoyed music of all types; watching movies; and playing video games with his boys. His life was centered around Jami and the three boys and he leaves a void that will never be filled. Everyone who knew David loved him. We will all miss his smile, hugs and sense of humor. Even in death, his wish to help others was fulfilled by his organ donation. The family is comforted to know his blue eyes will still live on. May God bless David's memory. Loving family members include Jami, David's beloved wife of almost eleven years; 3 sons: Aaron, Michael, and Ean, with a 4th son on the way; his parents, Paul and Stephanie Egeland of Fisher, MN; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Becky Egeland of Fisher; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and John Olek of Moorhead, MN and Sally and Eric Swenson of Dorothy, MN; nephews and a niece: Rylan, Logan, and Layne Egeland, Alivia and Andrew Olek, and Thor Swenson, with Sally expecting another child in September; and grandparents, Ernest and Norma Egeland of Fisher. David also leaves his parents-in-law: June and Todd Stevens and Jerome and Linda Bahls, all of Fisher; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Amanda Bahls of Fisher, and their children, Cooper, Max, and Logan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Helen Gunstinson; uncle, Vernon "Bo" Gunstinson; and several cousins. The funeral service for David Matthew Egeland will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Bygland Lutheran Church, rural East Grand Forks, MN, with The Rev. Karen Young Trenne, officiating. Visitation will be at the Bygland Church on Tuesday from 5-7:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, and also for one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Bygland North Cemetery. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home of Crookston is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to help establish an education fund for their four sons. Online registry at stenshoelhouske.com
