Darlene Normandin

Darlene Mea Brule was born on May 1, 1929 in Crookston, MN to her parents, Alphonse and Clara (Trudeau) Brule.  She lived in Crookston for 10 years before moving to Gentilly.  Darlene graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Crookston.

Darlene married Raymond (Fritz) Normandin in 1947.  Together, they raised a family, farmed near Gentilly, and ran the Snow Sled Inn.  Darlene also worked part time at JC Penney for many years.  She was a wonderful housewife, mother and friend.  She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she served as sacristan, Eucharistic minister, and member of St. Anne’s Sodality.

Darlene is survived by six children; Carolyn Berg, Erskine; Gary Normandin, Crookston; Susan (Ted) Schraeder, Gentilly; Vicky (Rand) Swenson, Freemont, WI;  Delphine (Jarin) Cull, Angier, NC; and Laurie (Lee) Straw, Bemidji; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (1992);  son, Duane; grandson, Jesse Swenson; infant sister, Yvonne; and two sons-in-law, Daniel Palmer and Lyle Berg.

Darlene Mae Normandin, age, 89, of Crookston died Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. A Memorial Mass will be held, Saturday, Sept, 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly with Fr. Vincent Miller officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Gentilly.  Arrangements are with Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
