Cindy Hanson

May 20, 1957 — June 10, 2012

Cindy Kay (Sundeen) Hanson, 55, of rural Beltrami, MN, rode into the sunset one last time on June 10, 2012. Cindy was born in Grand Forks, ND on May 20, 1957 to Norman and Iva (Lundy) Sundeen. She lived in Grand Forks until she was five, then moved to Dahlen, ND to live with an aunt and uncle. In 1971 Cindy returned to Grand Forks, and in 1979 moved, with her family, to Rapid City, SD. In 1985, Cindy came to Crookston, where she met her husband, Wesley Hanson, and the two were married on August 23, 1994. Cindy was blessed with four children: Tennille, Serena, Joey, and Crystal. Cindy worked hard for much of her life, and was employed at the Viking Bar, Villa St. Vincent, Irishman's Shanty, American Legion, and I.C. Muggs (where she was well known for her wonderful cooking.) She was currently employed at the VFW in Crookston. Cindy enjoyed being outdoors, whether riding motorcycles with Wesley, fishing at the lake, gardening, or caring for the farm. She also loved spending time with her three grandchildren, cooking, and playing games on her computer. Cindy was a past member of the Northwest Chapter of ABATE and a current member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries in Crookston. May God richly bless Cindy's memory. Mourning the loss of Cindy are her loving husband of eighteen years, Wesley Hanson; and four children: Tennille Olson of Fargo, ND, Serena Olson of Crookston, Joey Olson of Grand Forks, and Crystal Nesdahl of Crookston. Her memory will live on with her three grandchildren: Katelyn Olson of Fargo, and Wylee Nesdahl and Aadyn Olson, both of Crookston; brothers, Jeff (Tracey) Sundeen of Crookston and Bruce (Tiffany) Sundeen of Fargo; nieces and nephew, Jennifer Marie Jopp (Tom Hergott) of Alexandria, MN, Mallory Rose Sundeen of Crookston, and Jacob, Rachel, and Abby Sundeen all of Fargo; mother-in-law, Phyllis Hanson of Pelican Rapids; and her three dogs, Val, Clancy, and Buster. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Iva Sundeen, and father-in-law, Charles Hanson. A funeral service celebrating the life of Cindy Kay Hanson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with Pastor Tiffany Sundeen, presiding. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 pm, with a time of memory sharing at 6:30 pm, and visitation also at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Beltrami. A reception will be held in the upper room of the Crookston VFW following the service. (121 N. Main Street) Memorials are preferred to the family.
