Carolyn Perry

October 29, 1931 — March 16, 2017

Carolyn Joan Perry, 85, of Crookston, MN, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 16, 2017, at the RiverView Care Center in Crookston.

Carolyn was born in Crookston on October 29, 1931, one of 5 children of the union of Charles William and Clarice Winifred (Thompson) Perry. She grew up in Crookston, was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and attended the McKinley Elementary School through 4th grade. For the next few years Carolyn remained at home because of health conditions and special education needs. At the age of 13 she moved to a specialized facility in Cambridge, MN devoted to helping further Carolyn's education and develop certain life skills. From there she relocated to a group residence in the Twin Cities before returning to Cambridge, where she worked in the dietary department of a local nursing home. Then, after a short time spent in Fergus Falls, Carolyn returned to Crookston in July of 1974, taking up residence at the Villa St. Vincent. In 1976 Carolyn began doing assembly work at Crookston's Occupational Development Center, retiring from the ODC in 1996. She moved to the RiverView Care Unit on July 10, 1997. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and her favorite pastimes included playing the piano, and doing rug hooking and embroidery. She will be very sadly missed by all who were a part of her life.

Loving family members include her brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Marlys Perry of Crookston, MN; 2 sisters, Carol DuCharme of Ridgefield, WA and Janna Capp of Maplewood, MN; 10 nieces and nephews: Jana Brinlee of Ridgefield, WA, Lori Harrison of Mesa, AZ, Debra (Lonn) Kiel of Crookston, Jon (Penny) Perry Jr. of Vergas, MN, Charles (Julie) Perry of Crookston, Robert (Beth) Perry of Grand Forks, ND, James (Patty) Perry of Crookston, Timothy Wall of Maplewood, MN, Thomas Wall of St. Paul, MN, and Ian Wall of Minneapolis, MN; together with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clarice; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Aurel Ekvall; 3 brothers-in-law: Richard Ducharme, Delbert Wall, and John Capp; and a niece and nephew, Marsha DuCharme and Michael DuCharme. May God richly bless Carolyn's memory.
