Carol Jean Perreault

October 24, 1931 — July 2, 2024

Crookston

Carol Jean Perreault, 92, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She was born on October 24, 1931, in Crookston, MN, to her loving parents, Alfred and Aldina (Benoit) Normandin.

In her early years, Carol attended St. Joseph Academy until the 8th grade, from which she graduated in 1944. She began her working life by picking potatoes on the farm and eventually became a dedicated farm wife after marrying Omer Perreault at St. Peter’s Church in Gentilly, MN, on April 28, 1952. Shortly after marrying, the couple moved to Grand Rapids for a year before moving to Gentilly in 1953, where they welcomed and raised five children: Debbie, Michelle, Bernard, Sandra, and Karen. In 1985, Carol joined the American Crystal Sugar Company, where she dedicated 25 years of service before retiring in 2010. Carol’s life was filled with a lot of love, laughter, and heartache. Sadly, in 1977, Omer passed away at the young age of 60. Following her husband’s passing in 1997 was her daughter Sandra Anderson, then several years later in 2012, her daughter Karen passed away. Though tragic, Carol found the strength from her faith and family to keep moving forward in life. In 2020, she moved to Crookston where she lived the remainder of her life.

Known for her fun-loving nature and unwavering work ethic, Carol was cherished as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother by her surviving family members. She found joy in various hobbies and interests, including meat dressing, making caramels and popcorn balls, gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Carol also enjoyed family gatherings, canning produce, playing cards with loved ones, and taking trips to the casino.

Her family will hold tight to the memories they have, and the joy she brought to their lives. May God bless the memory of Carol Jean Perreault.

Left to mourn Carol’s passing are her children: Debbie Albaugh of Warren, MN, Michelle (Steve) Anderson of Gentilly, MN, and Bernard (Nancy) Perreault of Crookston, MN; Grandchildren: Christopher (Kari) Albaugh of Las Vegas, NV, Benjamin Albaugh of Warren, MN, Zackariah Albaugh of Las Vegas, Tanya Lanctot, Carrie (Ben) Herberg, Nathan (Andriana) Lanctot, Heath (Emily) Lanctot, Jon (Amanda) Perreault, Jason (Dana) Perreault, James (Katie) Perreault, Jennifer Perreault, and Joseph (Jenni) Perreault; Great-Grandchildren: Norah, Leo, Luke, Owen, Jonah, Caden, Vera, Weston, Royce, Ally, Emma, Odin, Mosley, Noah, Trinity, and Lincoln; and son-in-law, Curtis, and John; as well as several other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Aldina Normandin; her husband, Omer; Daughters, Sandra Anderson and Karen Perreault; Granddaughter, Ashley Welsh; and a daughter-in-law, Jodi Albaugh; and son-in-law, Terrance Albaugh; as well as many other relatives.
