Crookston

Brenda Ann Desrosier, 60, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 29, 2023, at her home. Born in Crookston, MN on February 23, 1963, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.

Brenda's career spanned over many dedicated years at the American Crystal Sugar Company. She was known for her unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. More recently, she had been working for Captain Crooks, where her experience and skills shone brightly.

While Brenda was passionate about her profession, it was her personal life that truly illuminated the depths of her character. She possessed an adventurous spirit and had a deep love for the outdoors. Family members still chuckle at the memories of Brenda riding her trusty snowmobile – a beater that managed to bring immense joy to all who watched her navigate its playful quirks.

Softball was another passion that Brenda embraced wholeheartedly. She was an integral part of a family softball team where laughter and friendly competition abounded. Summers were a cherished time for Brenda and her loved ones as they bonded over shared moments at her parents’ cabin on Pine Lake. It was there that Brenda's warmth and hospitality truly shined through as she created lasting memories with those closest to her heart.  Along with those closest to her heart was her granddaughter, Rylee.  Brenda loved being a grandmother and cherished every minute she spent with her.

Brenda's compassionate nature had no bounds; she was a dedicated caregiver and an ardent lover of animals, especially dogs. Her heart overflowed with kindness as she could never turn away a stray dog in need. This selfless act of love demonstrated Brenda's innate ability to empathize with those who needed it most.

A kind-hearted soul with unwavering determination, Brenda approached life with grace and resilience. Her passion extended beyond work and family; she stood firmly in her beliefs and sought ways to make a positive impact on the world around her.  Brenda was gifted at handiwork and, with the help of her parents’, found ways to transform the spaces around her.

Outside of work, Brenda had a love for watching scary movies. The adrenaline of being captivated by a good thriller thrilled her, and she would often invite friends and family to join her in the excitement. Additionally, she treasured family time and loved playing volleyball in the sand at the lake.

Brenda is survived by her son, Steven Stene of Audubon, MN; Husband, Zane Stigen of Thief River Falls Granddaughter Rylee Stene; her parents:  Delbert and Evelyn; Bryan and (Connie) Desrosier; Alan (Sandy) Desrosier; Allyson (Paul) Cwikla—All of Crookston.  As well as many nieces, newphews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Paul and Clara Desrosier; Frank and Angela Schmidt; and her niece Angela Desrosier.

As we bid farewell to Brenda Ann Desrosier, let us celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and passion for family and friends will continue to inspire us all. May her soul find eternal peace, and may we cherish the memories we shared together.
