Arturo Alcozer

Arturo Aguilar Alcozer, 61, of Crookston, MN, died Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Arturo was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 30, 1955, the son of Santos and Maria (Aguilar) Alcozer. He grew up in Crystal City, TX, where he received his education. He later moved to the northern United States and was employed driving trucks over the road. He later settled in Crookston and for several years drove truck for area farmers during the sugar beet harvest. Arturo loved his kids and grandkids dearly. He especially enjoyed sleep-over nights with the grandkids, telling them stories about his life, watching spooky movies together, and then scaring them as they screamed and laughed with delight. He will be remembered as a man who loved the ladies, and will be sadly missed. Arturo is survived by 11 children: Johnny Ramirez (Dawn Goulet) of Crookston, MN, Bobby Ramirez of East Grand Forks, MN, Jessica Alcozer of Crookston, Arturo (Melissa) Alcozer of Red Lake Falls, MN, Maria Alcozer of St. Hilaire, MN, Cathy Alcozer of Thief River Falls, MN, Santos Bower of Crookston, Alesha Sirek of Crookston, Crystal (Gary) Anderson of Fargo, ND, Florencio Hampton of Warren, MN, and Loretta Bower of Thief River Falls; 25 grandchildren; a brother, Santos "Stormy" (Mary) Alcozer of East Grand Forks, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Maria; the mother of his children, Kathy Brady Alcozer; a sister, Carmen; and a brother, Florencio. Visitation for Arturo Alcozer will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, Deacon Dennis Bivens, presiding. There will not be a separate funeral service.
