Arlyne McCleary

Arlyne (Sawyer) McCleary, 94, passed away on July 19, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Arlyne was born on February 24, 1931 to William and Mary (Erickson) Sawyer in Crookston, Minnesota. She attended school in Crookston and graduated from Central High School. Arlyne was baptized and confirmed at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Crookston. Arlyne married David McCleary on September 10, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crookston with Rev. Fellger officiating. David and Arlyne lived in Fisher, Minnesota and were faithful members of Fisher Lutheran Church. Arlyne served as a Sunday School teacher and as treasurer for WELCA. She belonged to a sewing club for many years. Arlyne loved to knit, crochet, and do crossword puzzles. She was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. She was a caregiver to many.

Arlyne is preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, William and Mary Sawyer; brothers, Robert (Geraldine) Sawyer, Lloyd (Loy) Sawyer; sister, Jeanne Sawyer; brothers-in-law, Bill (Doris) McCleary, Cortland McCleary, John (Marge) McCleary.

Arlyne is survived by her four children, Vicki Klaers (Steve), Lee (Kathy) McCleary, Dean (Natalie) McCleary, Linda (Randy) Steinwand; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Arlyne's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of HIA Hospice and Farmstead Living for the wonderful care they provided to Arlyne.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at Fisher Lutheran Church with interment following the service in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
