Dr. Abdorrahman "Abdo" Alghamdi, 47, of Crookston, MN, passed away at his residence, Tuesday morning, August, 8, 2017.
"Abdo" was born on September 13, 1969 in Bini Saeed, Saudi Arabia, where he was also raised. He began his studies at King Saud University where he earned his VMD and continued on to his English Program at Cornell University, earning his Masters, then his PhD at the University of Minnesota. He started his teaching career at Truman State University where he developed a love for teaching. Following that he worked at UMC teaching undergraduate students in many pre-veterinary and agricultural based programs, recently receiving his tenure. His research beyond teaching has not only inspired and been referenced, but also published in many areas of his field of research. He was well loved and respected all over the world for his intelligence, cooperation, and most of all his infectious smile, and kind heart. He tackled this world and all it had to offer with a great passion.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly, stepson, Mark, brothers, Abdullah, Ali, Mohammed, Ahmed, & Abdulrahman, sisters, Azaa, & Saleha, as well as countless nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and many in-laws.
Preceded in death by his Father, Saleh, Mother, Hamda, Brothers,Mtar, Eid ,Marzooq and sister, Fatima.
His friends are also his family. The number of friends has been limitless and abundant of which shall carry his legacy on for generations.
A celebration of life will take place at; 3 p.m. Friday, August, 25th U of M, Crookston, UTOC Arena 2900 University Avenue. Following the celebration at UMC there will be a send-off at Drafts Sports Bar & Grill, Crookston.
In Lieu of Flowers, a memorial fund has been established to create scholarships/or grants to continue his mission. Also funds are being collected for several other organizations/charities. You may contact: zeewind68@yahoo.com for more information.
