Rosalinda Oliva, 63, of Crookston, MN, died at her home early Monday morning, April 17, 2017, with her loving family at her bedside. She had been in ill health for several years.
Rosalinda was born in Saginaw, MI on October 4, 1953, the daughter of Santos and Manuela Maria (Velasquez) DelaCruz. She traveled the country with her family for several years as they worked in the agricultural fields and orchards of many states. In 1979 the family settled in Miami, FL, and in 1981 Rosalinda moved to East Grand Forks. On November 14, 1983 she was united in marriage to Pedro "Peter" Oliva Jr. in Crookston. In 1993 Rosalinda, Peter, and their family moved from East Grand Forks to Angus, MN, and then to Grand Forks in 1998. For 15 years she was employed in the factory of the American Crystal Sugar Company. In 2013 she and Peter moved to Crystal City, TX and then to Crookston in October of 2016.
Rosalinda loved to laugh and make people smile, and had a passion for dancing, singing, and being outdoors. She was very devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her family, and they will miss her dearly.
Rosalinda is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Pedro "Peter" Oliva Jr. of Crookston, MN; 3 children: MaryAnn Zertuche and her husband, Victor Delgado, of Crookston, Jennifer Delacruz of Crookston, and Ramon Figueroa III of Crystal City, TX; 3 step-children: Nicholas, Mariam, and Olivia Oliva of Alma, MI; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Rojelio Delacruz of Grand Forks, ND, Adolfo Delacruz of San Antonio, TX, and Juan Mauricio (Kim) Delacruz of Terrall, TX; 4 sisters: Elia Torrez of Brownfield, TX, Maria (Alfredo) Torrez of Angus, MN, Yolanda Sandoval of Traverse City, MI, and Leticia (Jesse) Ortiz of Warren, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Maria; a daughter, Marsha Delacruz; sister, Frances Hernandez; and 2 brothers, Raul Delacruz and Robert Delacruz. Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalinda Oliva will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with The Rev. Augie Gothman, presiding. Visitation will be at the Cathedral on Monday from 5-7PM, with a 7PM prayer service, and for one hour prior to the funeral mass on Tuesday. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
